Reservoir - Remedial Activities

Last update:  10/29/2007

Extended Hours

Brick Reservoir Hours Extended Through Fall Season

The Chairman and Board of Commissioners of The Brick Township Municipal Utilities have considered requests by visitors to the Brick Reservoir to extend the hours for the Fall Season. The established hours for Fall are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Effective immediately modifications in employee work schedules will allow the facility to be open from 6:30 a.m. and remain open until 9:00 p.m., without an impact on the operating budget or creating overtime expenditure.

It is anticipated that this schedule can remain in effect until December 15th at which time the Reservoir will have a scheduled 6:00 p.m. closing for the winter months, however there will be flexibility in the closing schedule based on weather conditions.

"This will allow our visitors to use the Reservoir to walk or run prior to heading off to work or starting on their day's chores. We expect our regular visitors will be happy about the increased hours and we may even pick up a few more visitors now that it is open earlier. This is one of the best times to visit the Reservoir - when the leaves start to change it is very picturesque up there," stated MUA Chairman Patrick L. Bottazzi.

The Brick Reservoir opened to the public in May 2005 and has since become a major attraction for residents in the area and the surrounding communities. Its nearly two mile perimeter pathway provides a clean, safe and relaxing environment for visitors to walk and jog. The classic park setting features benches and lighting for those that want to sit and enjoy the view of the nearly one billion gallon Reservoir.

The Authority is also proud to announce that Brick Reservoir has been named the 2007 Best Place to Walk, Jog and Hike in Ocean County by the Asbury Park Press Readers' Choice Awards.
